Eight has a name, a real name. The problem is she can't remember it.
The people around her don't remember theirs either. Like her, they're all trapped in what seems to be the same dream without a name—just a number. In order to leave this place, you must 'awaken' to your real name.
Much to Eight's relief, she finds a familiar face. Just by looking at him she knows he is her brother, even if neither of them can remember each other's names. She believes they're trapped in a dream; her brother thinks differently. Little by little they piece together their scattered memories to 'awaken': how it ends depends on who you think is right.

There IS, actually, a way to name your spaces. That is, you can't change the name that appears under them when you use Mission Control (which I will go on record saying is one of Apple's biggest mistakes-Spaces was a million times better, even though it too was crippled in some respects), but you can assign names to them and make it easier to tell them apart. Network name is the unique name that differentiate a MAC or PC on a network. If you have more than one MAC and you start sharing things back and forth between your computers, the names of those MACs start to matter.
On Mac OS X, changing computer name is extremely easy. How to change it? Just open up System Preferences, go to Sharing, and change the computer name. You may need to change the name under your Network setting also. Open Network (next to Sharing), Advanced, WINS, and change the NetBIOS name. Done!
