Beacon has been growing in favor and in flavor for a few years now and is gaining recognition as one of the Hudson Valley's gems come back to life. The town has it all, a rich in history and small town Americana charm. Beacon, with an abundance of Victorian architecture, collectible shops, emerging art galleries, museums and fine dining has something for everyone. Beacon sits on the Metro North commuter line offering visitors and residents an easy in and out of NYC.

Overlooking the Hudson river with the Beacon Newburgh Bridge in the background. There are many beautiful public green spaces to spend a lazy afternoon in Beacon. The city is also revitalizing the greenways along the banks of the Hudson complete with bike paths.


Beacon NY once known primarily for its hilltop casino, fine wool hats, biscuit wrappers, civil war guns and red bricks comes into a renaissance with a world class art museum, galleries and small town charm.

Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival
“Our 2015 season is a celebration of the power of storytelling. Next to eating, and sleeping, and love, one of our deepest human needs is for stories,” says Artistic Director Davis McCallum. Now in his sophomore season with the company, McCallum makes his directorial debut with the Shakespearean romance/comedy, A Winter’s Tale. Five actors portray 20 different characters in a modernized version of the ever-popular comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The wily Scheherezade spins never-ending tales to save herself from her murderous husband, the king, in The Arabian Nights, an adaptation of The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night written by playwright/director Mary Zimmerman and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. Five performances of An Iliad — a contemporary reworking of Homer’s epic poem about the Trojan War — are also on tap; this Obie Award-winning one-man show features veteran HVSF actor Kurt Rhoads.
Family-friendly Shakespeare. In August, fledgling actors in the HVSF Conservatory Company present four performances of the playwright’s The Tempest, giving the production a circus-like treatment that’s just the ticket for young theatergoers.

The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck is a non-profit arts organization which offers performances and classes throughout the year. Performing and teaching artists are of local, national and international talent. The CENTER was founded in 1987, born of the needs of the Rhinebeck Theatre Society, a community theater group which needed a permanent site in which to rehearse and perform.

What is Network Beacon for Mac Network Beacon is a Mac OS X application that enables you to publish services on a computer or to serve as a proxy for services on other computers or devices. Beacon, New York is about 90 minutes north of New York City. It features the huge contemporary art museum, Dia:Beacon. It also has galleries and shops along the quaint Main Street. You can take the Metro-North commuter rail and walk into town. Rent a bike to explore the Victorian homes.
