I was afraid that I would not be able to defeat Kalisthene (since I failed previously), however the boots that you craft allow you to dash and therefore break free from the chains that she uses to tether you!Comment by Purpleurza
I didn't find this especially easy even with the boots, although that may be because I habitually play melee so am not great at keeping my distance, stopping to cast etc.Remember to use the stun ability (2) on CD and hit her with the main damage ability (1) when she is stunned.
On the buff ability (3), each split of Pelegos gives a different buff. If you know the floating attack is incoming, use the shield to absorb it all, otherwise I tended to go for the speed buff just to keep at range.
Others may have better suggestions here, good luck!

For Kalisthene I chose Pelagos as he feels the strongest. (He might not be for this one)Kalisthene is a melee angel who chases you around the map trying to melee you to death.
She only really has two abilities:
Javelin tether - she throws a javelin towards you into the ground. It automatically attaches a chain to you which will constantly pull you closer to the chain. She will at most cast this two times before she flies up into the air. As said in other comments if you use the Herald's Footpads equipment you can break free of the tether. I have found it most beneficial to do this on the first tether, however you could try to save it for the second one.
Aerial attack - Kalisthene flies into the air after casting her second javelin tether. In the air she will throw a barrage of javelin's at you for roughly 10 seconds. Having 2 tethers makes these very difficult to avoid. If you do happen to have two tethers and are having a hard time avoiding the attacks use Pelago's third ability (Confront Memories). Choose either the right option, Armored Recollection, to block all damage for 5 seconds or the left option, Swift Recollection, to gain movement speed for 15 seconds.
After she finishes the flying phase she will go back on the ground and start the whole thing again. Make sure to use Pelago's second ability, Aspirant's Bindings, to root her in place. This will allow you ample time to cast Test of Faith (Pelago's first ability).
The fight is overall simple, just avoid damage and always save your Herald's Footpads for when you are tethered.

then #2
then 1,2,3,1,2,1 while she is rooted from 2
#5 when needed if tethered (long cooldown) I used it 2x 1st tether and 3rd tether)

I'm REALLY struggling with this, mainly because the camera goes crazy during the figth, flashing between close and far away in insane speed. Zooming in or out does not have any effect, neither has disabling all addons.I've already burned off 5 medallions and only have 7 left. And winning these fights is best way to get new ones... Screw this.

Quest Name:Start and description
1 The Path of Ascension Storyline start from Haephus 42 53.
2 Humble Gatherer 'You need to Find:
- 2 Depleted Goliath Core Drop from Forsworn Punisher or Dark Goliath
- 6 Tampered Anima Charger Drop from mechanical enemies in Bastion
- 5 Soul Mirror Shard Drop from humanoid Forsworn enemies
As well to get this materials You can go to Dungeon Spires of Ascension.'
3 Your Friend, Dactylis 'Go to Dactylis 29 39 and from the collected materials from previous quest craft:
- 2 Overcharged Goliath Core
- 1 Soul Mirror.'
4 A Suitable Opponent Go to 53 88 and activatre 2 Depleted Goliath then speak with Kalisthene then go back to quest giver.
5 Into the Coliseum 'Go to coloseum. To get there speak with Artemede.
Inside do by Steps:
- Pick Pelagos
- Pick enemy from Soul Mirror ( is on left behind )
- Start Fight using Bell
You dont need to win this fight but is good to train skills due to that next time you will need to win.
Skills:
Test of Faith - 3 sec duration attack ( can get 20 energy ) You can't move when using.
Aspirant's Bindings - Root enemy + aoe dmg ( can get 10 energy ) You can cast when moving.
Confront Memories - Drop 3 memories: Swift Recollection, Prescient Recollection and Armored Recollection You can pick up only 1 all giving deferent abilit ( You will get 20 energy )
Unleash - You can use it when you have 100 energy. Is best skill with large dmg Use it all the time when energy ready.
SKill 5 - Use it when you have chain on you to run out.
Stay on from of you enemy then you will do basic attack giving you 1 energy.'
6 Herald's Footpads Speak with Dactylis.
7 Sourcing Your Own Materials 'Craft Herald's Footpads For that You need:
4 Elysian Feathers - Drop from Flying mobs best spot for me was 46 37 slay Swiftwing Larion.
2 Champion's Pelt - Drop from Juvenile Runedeer go to Ardenweald 59 37.'
8 Overcoming the Trial 'Defeat Kalisthene in Path of Ascension. Same way to get inside, inside do:
- Pick Pelagos
- Pick enemy from Soul Mirror ( is on left behind )
- Pick up Herald's Footpads from Paolone ( is on left )
- Start Fight using Bell

There's a couple of timing things with this fight - getting them right results in a pretty easy, and somewhat dull, encounterPrinciples:
1) Never get close to Kalisthene - try to keep her at range all the time
2) Don't bother trying until you get the Boots - you need them to break the chains.
3) You're going to have 1 Tether on you pretty much most of the time - use it to your advantage. Only ever use the speed boost from the boots to break 2 chains (immediately after she casts the 2nd). When she casts Tether, your aim is to get as far away from the target zone as possible (without using the Boots!). You can use the tether to draw you across the arena faster by running towards it then (just don't get too close!) if you need to get away from her.
The rest of the fight is basically:
1) Cast Confront Memories (3) as soon as it's up. Choose the Movement speed buff (the one that looks like its Kneeling). Run away from K, and keep casting Test of Faith (strafe running helps)
2) Keep an eye on the speed boot buff (not the CM cooldown). As soon as it drops, and assuming K isn't flying) case Aspirants Bindings (2) on K to root her. By the time she's broken free, you should have Confront Memories back, and can choose the speed buff again
Cycle this until she's dead
Other tips:
1) only use Unleash (4) when she's casting Tether on you, and only if you're a significant way away from the Spear target zone. The time it takes to case this will usually mean she'll get into melee with you -- casting while she is, then using the spear's drag to pull you across the area helps get you back to range with her
2) Use the pillars if she gets too close. You can force her to run around one side, and then back around the other way if you time it right, which will create some range
4) Try not to run away from the spear chain once its on you.. Always try to be moving sideways from it - you'll move a bit faster

I found keeping the shield buff up and keep moving was the key. I failed like 3 times in a row, but the first time I tried it with always selecting the shield buff I was successful and ended the fight with 80% health.Comment by aparrott

- Select Palegos as your soulbind
- Speak to equipment manager to the left and equip the boots
- Select your enemy from the mirror
- Ring the bell to enter the fighting ground
During the fight
- Use to root Kalisthene in place
- Use to hit Kalisthene (this is a channelling spell)
- Use and run through the right-most image for a invulnerability buff
- When rooted by the spear, use on CD; run around the poles to LOS Kalisthene when waiting for CD
- Use when safe
- When Kalisthene is up in the air, avoid large light golden circles on the ground. You'll need to run out of ~10 of them. Wait for her to land and repeat 1-5

Okay - the trick here is definitely take the speed buff every time. I tried all the various techniques and only won on my 4th try. With constantly taking the speed buff and running literally as far away from her as possible, I found it easier. I spent more time running than I spent casting at her, if this gives you any indication on how to win. This is poorly designed/tuned fight - what kind of 'fight' has you running more than fighting? Think about that, Blizz.Take the speed buff, bind her, then cast. Cast your buff thing, select the speed buff again, run. Repeat. Only use the boots (equipment button) when you get the two chains on you. It's a longer fight than you would think because of all the constant running.

OMG f@#* this whole situation! The ONLY reason I'm doing it at all is for Sundancer.Oh and the Doubt-tinged stuff is by far the best kyrian set.. Figures...
But seriously, this was way one-sided, power-wise, Blizz.
A trick I noticed in both videos that no one has mentioned is getting held between two chains- if you get right inbetween two spears, the chains cancel each other out, they hold you in place but won't damage you. Granted you can't stay still for very long, because Madam K's melee damage isn't as weak as they let on... Also I started off thinking the speed buff was key but it was definitely the shield for me...

This is a bad quest, but I figured out after 3rd try.Keep distance.
Hit (1)
run sideways and away from boss
hit (2) stun, hit (1)
run sideways and away from boss
hit (3)
choose left image to give you speed boost
keep running until you are safe, take your time, when hitting him, sometimes can tap (1) and shoot individual energy shots
hit (5) when you get double chained
rinse and repeat.
